
COMMERCE PARK/AIRFIELD MANAGER
Grosse Ile (Mich.) Municipal Airport (www.grosseileairport.com) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Commerce Park /Airfield Manager. Position requires candidate to possesses a 4-year degree (Bachelor’s Degree.) from an accredited college or university in Airport Administration, Planning, Economic Development, Public Administration or comparable. Master’s degree preferred. Position requires three to five years of progressively responsible managerial experience in a governmental setting as an assistant Airport Manager, Airport Manager, Department Head, or Economic Development Specialist. Successful applicant will be required to obtain a Michigan Airport Manager License within three months of hire as well as a Certified Storm Water Operator License with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. Manager coordinates, and executes activities regarding construction, maintenance, administration, and operation of a general aviation airport and commerce park. Position is full time, and salary is DOQ. Grosse Ile (Michigan) Municipal Airport seeking qualified applicants for participation in a non-paid internship that provides professional and career development opportunities through hands-on experience, including experience towards the one-year prerequisite to apply for accreditation through the American Association of Airport Executives and certification as an Assistant Airport Manager from the State of Michigan.
The purpose of the internship is twofold: to give a deserving person the "foot-in-door" experience needed to proceed with a career in airport management, and to help us with tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and administration of the airport and Commerce Park. Accordingly, applicants must have completed at least two years of college in an aviation-related, public administration, or business, course of study and must demonstrate a genuine desire to pursue an airport-related or public administration career.
The Airport is taking applications, conducting interviews, and creating a list of four to six qualified candidates. The most qualified candidate will be contacted and offered the position. If the candidate does not accept the position, it will be offered to the next most qualified candidate, until the position is filled.
