A
Historical
Facility
Enjoy
playing tennis in this historical building, which was built in 1942 to house military
aircraft and later converted into a tennis facility in 1972.
For over thirty years the facility has been exclusively used as a tennis
and health club.
The
facility is owned and presently operated by the Township of Grosse Ile and the
Grosse Ile Municipal Airport.
The
capital improvements initiated fall 2003 were funded through the efforts of
private donors. With these funds, Phase I of the redevelopment of the Tennis
Center has transpired. Phase I
focused upon reopening the tennis courts and limited amenities. Phase II will
initiate the construction of new infrastructure, new locker rooms and the
developement of a full service fitness area.
